Glucantime 1.5 g / 5 ml is an antiparasitic injectable solution indicated for the treatment of visceral or cutaneous leishmaniasis. Glucantime 1.5 g / 5 ml comes in a 5 ml ampoule containing 1.500 g of meglumine antimonate, i.e., 0.4050 g of antimony. A box contains five vials of 5 ml. The other ingredients are potassium sulfite, anhydrous sodium sulfite, and water for injections.

In case of allergy to antileishmanial or to any of the other components contained in this medication, or in case of liver, kidney, or heart disease, taking the drug Glucantime is contraindicated. Taking Glucantime requires the advice of your doctor or pharmacist. It contains sulfites and can cause severe allergic reactions and respiratory discomfort. The presence of an iron or other deficiency must be corrected before treatment can be started, and a protein-rich diet must be instituted during treatment. In case of impaired cardiac, hepatic, or renal functions, the doses must be reduced. Taking the drug Glucantime in case of pregnancy must be done under medical advice. However, the treatment will be started because visceral leishmaniasis is a disease that can be fatal. In the case of breastfeeding, it is necessary to avoid the administration of this drug.
