Traditional oral hygiene products may contain up to 20-30% of ethyl alcohol, used for the solubilization of the active ingredients, and SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate), an aggressive foaming surfactant used as a foaming detergent. More and more studies show that these substances, in predisposed subjects, could be responsible for annoying disorders that could hinder daily oral hygiene, sometimes forcing them to stop using mouthwash and toothpaste.
Essential oils
The Essential Oils penetrate the plaque and act for a prolonged time both at the supragingival and subgingival levels, even in the most difficult to reach interproximal spaces, over the years they have proved to be particularly useful in the control of halitosis.
Sodium fluoride
It has an anti-demineralizing and remineralizing action on the dental enamel. It determines the formation of fluorapatite which is deposited on the surface of the tooth, protecting it and increasing its structural resistance to caries.
Zinc
Soluble salt with anti-plaque and antibacterial action, captures the smelly gases and chemicals produced by some bacteria responsible for bad breath. It also prevents the precipitation of insoluble salts which lead to the formation of tartar.
Xylitol
Natural sweetener that is not metabolized by the bacteria responsible for caries and does not change the pH of the plaque. It performs an anti-plaque and anticaries activity, also contributing to the remineralization of the enamel.
