Olive oil

Vitamins are soluble in olive oil without allergens, which allows for better absorption and utilization of these vitamins. Vitamins D3 and K1 are fat-soluble and dissolvable in oil, and therefore, their absorption and utilization are better.

Vitamin D3 is naturally synthesized in the skin. Under the influence of the sun, the inactive form of vitamin D goes into the active form – vitamin D3. For children, one of the key roles of vitamin D3 is that it helps in the absorption of the important bone-building minerals – calcium and phosphorus from the digestive tract, and thus enables normal development and growth of teeth and bones. Due to the harmful effects of the sun’s rays in the summer and less exposure to the sun with sun protection factors, as well as in winter conditions without much sunshine, the recommended daily supplementation of 400 IU of vitamin D3 must be taken. According to all European and national recommendations, supplementation must be taken every day from the 8th day to the end of the age of one. After a year, a daily dose of 400 IU is recommended in winter months (October to March). Vitamin K1 Vitamin K1 is also called “blood coagulation vitamin” because it has an extremely important role in the synthesis of coagulation factors. Due to its deficiency, severe bleeding can occur, which is, luckily, very rare. Babies do not have vitamin K1 after birth because vitamin K1 passes through the placenta in very small amounts. Good bacteria synthesize it in the intestines naturally. The development of these bacteria in the gastro-intestinal tract of the baby takes time. In addition, breast milk contains vitamin K1 only in traces, so the baby cannot get the required amount of vitamin K1 through breast milk. For the purpose of prevention and in order to protect the baby, in most European countries, the baby must get 1 mg of vitamin K1 immediately after birth in the maternity ward. In accordance with the recommendations of the National Associations of Pediatricians and Neonatologists and the Ministry of Health, in most countries of western and southeastern Europe, prolonged oral prophylaxis at a daily dose of 25 mcg is recommended from the 8th day to the end of the third month. The prolonged use of a small oral dose of vitamin K1 cannot be harmful in any way, but on the contrary! This small dose of vitamin K1 can only protect your baby more. Adapted infant milk is enriched with vitamin K1. If the baby is on a mixed diet and has up to two meals of adapted formulas a day, additional vitamin K1 supplementation with the use of Babytol D3 + K1 is recommended at a dose of 25 mcg by the end of the third month after birth.
