Canesten3 is used:
in women, for the treatment of infection of the upper genital tract (vagina), caused by fungi (from Candida type yeast) called Candida vaginitis. The signs and symptoms of this infection are white secretions like curds, itching, redness, swelling and painful burning of the vulva. Painful urination may also be present.
Genital infection by Candida-type fungi is not a sexually transmitted disease, so treatment of the partner is required ONLY if signs and symptoms are present in him or if advised by a doctor.
How Canesten3 is used
Dosage and duration of treatment
Canesten3 is for vaginal use (inside the vagina).
Vaginal treatment: for three consecutive nights before lying down to sleep place a vaginal tablet in the vagina, as described in the instructions on the packing leaflet. Signs and symptoms, caused by fungal infection of the vagina, usually improve within 7 days of starting treatment (or after using 3 vaginal tablets). If the signs and symptoms of the infection do not disappear completely, if the circumstances worsen or if the infection reappears, consult your doctor. If symptoms return within 2 months, consult your doctor.
