Ormidol

ORMIDOL contains the active ingredient atenolol and belongs to a group of medicines called

beta blockers.

ORMIDOL is used for:

- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)

- Treatment of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia)

- Helps prevent chest pain (angina)

- Helps the heart in early treatment after a heart attack (heart attack), as well as provides

long-term protection against reinfarction.

ORMIDOL works by reducing the heart rate and the force of cardiac contraction.

How to take ORMIDOL

Take this medicine as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist again.

Your doctor will tell you how many tablets you should take each day and when you should take them.

Adults

Treatment of hypertension

The usual dose is one ORMIDOL 50 mg tablet once a day. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 100 mg per day.

Angina (chest pain)

The usual dose is 100 mg ORMIDOL once a day or 50 mg twice a day.

Arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm)

The usual dose is 50 to 100 mg of ORMIDOL per day.

Elderly (>65 years)

If you are over 65, your doctor may decide to give you a lower dose, especially if you have kidney problems.

People with kidney problems

If you have serious kidney problems, your doctor may decide to give you a lower dose.

Use in children and adolescents

ORMIDOL tablets should not be used in children and adolescents.
